Trend Alert: A warm glass of Umeshu for a cold winter day

This winter season, different parts of the country have been reeling from the impact of cold waves quite frequently. While the season calls for some hot chocolate with smoked s’mores, have you tried having some warm umeshu? Umeshu – the refreshing Japanese plum wine, is perfect for cold winter days and is sure to warm up your body and your soul. Chilled umeshu tastes delicious and makes for a refreshing beverage while warm umeshu can be your perfect go-to drink for cold winter evenings.

How to make warm umeshu

Making warm umeshu is very simple. All you need is some hot water and some umeshu. We recommend you follow a ratio of 1:1 or 3:2 for umeshu to hot water, though you can change this as per your preference.

Take the requisite amount of hot water at about 70 degrees Celsius and slowly add your umeshu to it. Pour slowly using a spoon or a rod to avoid splashes. Avoid using too hot water as this would burn out the alcohol and could also tamper with the flavor of the umeshu. Water at 70 degrees Celsius works out fine for making your warm umeshu.

Once you have poured in the umeshu, gently stir it. Your warm umeshu is ready!

Always add umeshu to the hot water and not vice-versa to ensure proper mixing and minimize the temperature shock to the umeshu.

Why warm umeshu is ideal for winters

Drinking warm umeshu can warm up your body as the mercury drops. It promotes healthier blood circulation in the body, which helps you fight the cold. It also helps you in relaxing and feeling more comfortable during the cold weather. Warm umeshu helps you recover from fatigue and gets you refreshed and rejuvenated in no time. Besides, it regulates your digestion, appetite, and sleep, promoting overall good health and well-being. Winters usually slow down your digestion, so it becomes essential to consume foods that keep you warm to build up a healthy metabolism. Warm umeshu will help you achieve that and more. Warm umeshu also soothes itchy sore throats and relieves some congestion.
